Don’t you love it too when numbers come to life? Patterns of numbers when cooked in the right context, contrasted with appropriate comparisons, and garnished with befitting visualizations bring out the inevitable “Aha!”

I’ve enjoyed these 3 online sources that present data through stories. They cover wide-ranging topics through amazing visualizations. Hats off to the creators and developers behind these projects!

Chartr provides 2-3 charts, mostly about current events, to your inbox twice a week. The charts are accompanied by some commentary on the issue. Their formats are always innovative and appropriate. I particularly like the charts that bring out special aspects of some companies or industries. They also throw in a few isolated data points in bullets at the end to satisfy your boundless curiosity.

The pudding hosts visual stories. Sometimes, the foundation for these isn’t data but they’re all interesting anyway. Watch out for the changing taglines on their website - pudding.cool. Enough said.

Some cool stories that I really liked:

Our World in Data hosts data and publishes stories around global development and sustainability issues. It hosts ~3600 charts around 27 topics, all associated closely with SDGs. The methodologies are scientifically reviewed and the data if often cited by publications all over the world.

Have a look at these few stories and trackers:

I hope you enjoy going through these cool projects! Please do let me know if you know of any other cool resource where data meets storytelling.
